Come to think of it, doesn't the military regularly butcher the language, Murls? Bet you had to deal with that crap all the time.

Pretty much...along with creating an acronym for everything damn thing.

@Tux Stain don't be so hard on yourself. Your fit is not all bad but I have to agree with the Seniors. We all have differing opinions, but one consistent footprint that I like is that these guys really bring the fashion and swagger. Choose your muse and steadily build your own voice. You have awesome potential. And if that plaid shirt truly exemplifies you; own it!

Who does your excellent National Geographic photography if you don't mind me asking?

At the moment the pictures are taken by a photographer who works full time in my company and indeed she specializes in "fashion" and marketing photography of bespoke clothing. You can see much more of her work, with and without me in the picture, here. We have been working together for a year now. I am very flattered when you say that you like the pictures because I feel that I have very limited capability to look good in pics so we work really hard to get an effect that is barely acceptable in the light of the amount of work that is put in my clothes and the incredible pictures of some bespke cats out there (also in here) at SF). Among others that is due to my sport past that gave me uncommon body proportions (but on the other hand it also pushed me towards tailoring).
But we believe that hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard :D :D :D And it works, here is a proof :D

Interacting with Christmas decorations on a cold (for here) day. Dunn & Co Harris Tweed jacket, L L Bean OCBD shirt, Brooks Brothers tie and sweater vest, Ralph Lauren Rugby pocket square and Polo trousers, and Allen-Edmonds shoes.......

The trousers are top! Also it is now clearly visible that Harris Tweed beats "bling-bling clothes" - you are much better dressed than the other guy ;)

Though it's only Wednesday, the Friday Challenge is "herringbone". Today's attire is a double dose of the fabric - both suit and topcoat, though both are the most subtle of herringbone patterns - it is too warm for me to have broken out my heavy brown herringbone overcoat, which is a much bolder pattern.

Suit - New & Lingwood
Shirt - Tyrwhitt
Tie - BB
PS - Ashear
Braces - Paul Stuart
Cufflinks - London Badge & Button Co.
Shoes - Paul Stuart house brand
Topcoat - JAB
Scarf - Turnbull & Asser
Hat - Selentino, via JJ Hat Center, NYC

I now realize that I should have posted closer and better lit photos of the shoes/fabrics considering how terrible the overall photo came out on my phone. Those are below as well.
I normally wear a pair of dark burgundy wing tips when I wear this shirt, but they are at the cobbler at the moment. I am a little heartbroken about your guys' opinion on the shirt. I did love this shirt. I had no idea that contrast collars were so douchey. :(
@Tux Stain I thought your contrast collar shirt was fine, but I wouldn't rock it with that suit. Rock it with some dark beige corduroys or something brown and textured (herringbone wool pants maybe), and cordovan color boots or wingtips. All earthy tones I think would look interesting, and then the white collar would be the offset highlight (similar to what a pocket square does to a blazer). If you like it don't trash it, just figure out ways to put it in another outfit. Good luck!

Crosspost from the Friday challenge. Evening in Montreux.

Coat: Lander Urquijo
Hat: Bugatti
Scarf: Al Bazar
Gloves: No brand (I have learned the hard way to never buy expensive gloves or umbrellas, because I always lose them)
SC: Canali
Shirt: Rayner & Sturges
Tie: Borrelli
PS: Drake's
Pants: Berg & Berg
Boots: Red Wings
@DiplomaticTies Best seasonal outfit I've seen in pages. I love the blazer + tie color combo, as well as the boots and coat pairing to round everything together.

"This hats suits you very well Crusty, and folds naturally into today's outfit without looking overly conspicuous.

I wonder if your interest in matters sartorial and acquisition of menswear stuff happened a bit later in life for you or was it something you've been into since you were a young lad?"

To answer the question, my (nearly obsessive) interest in clothing has been a fact of life since I was a stripling, though it seems that I've only gotten good at it (within the parameters of my rather idiosyncratic style) in the last few years.

You have tremendous potential, given your candor and open-mindedness.
One thing to think about is that we are often unwittingly attracted to the most novel or conceptually interesting clothing even if it is objectively the more loud and unflattering choice. Try to think of the clothes as tools and constituent parts in a greater armature, not as individual pieces of flair. This way you won't have particular attachment to an individual item but treat them as modular components in a whole.

Put down the Thesaurus, @sprout2

You got mad potential bro, your head is in the game. But you gotta check yaself before you wreck yaself.
Check this: sometimes we grab the more dope choice cuz it looks straight fire but it's TOO hot, looks too blinged out nawmean? You gotta go for that lowkey swag, build each piece up till you got a HALO around you, for real for real.
