• CALLING ON HOME SEWERS TO HELP HEALTHCARE WORKERS FIGHTING COVID-19

The lack of proper masks, gowns, and eyewear equipment is making it difficult for health workers to do their work fighting the novel coronavirus. In a recent New York Times article, medical workers said they were worried about how they can both fight the coronavirus without imperiling themselves, as well as their loved ones when they go back home.

If you are a home sewer, please consider helping my joining Hickey Freman Technical Vice President Jeffery Diduch in his effort to produce and deliver homemade gowns and masks to medical professionals in the greater Rochester, New York Area. Read about how you can help here

Wow, the fact that recommending UK7E size to person in UK6E sounds horrible... speaking of wooden last, have you had chance to buy EG shoes after they changed to plastic last? Do you still take same size as EG shoes on wooden last? or half size down?
It is quite shocking how few high-end shoe sellers actually know or care about proper shoe fit.

Yes, I still take the same size resin vs wood. My shoes that we made on a resin last generally seem marginally roomier in the toebox compared to the ones that were made on a wooden one, but in my case not so much so to justify sizing down a width. My size (UK6E) is on the smaller end of the spectrum. I cannot judge how the change from wood to resin lasts has effected other sizes, especially the larger ones. I presume the larger the size, the greater the potential differences could be in dimensions between the wood and resin lasts.

I took delivery of these EG Burgundy Crup Cardiffs from Leffot today.... This is their 10th anniversary pre-order, but I had them done with the EG green lining.

The last two posts have made me smile for the first time in several days. Thank you!
Receiving the call Friday from Leffot and the shoes today made me smile also.... some good news in the middle of the storm.

Those Cardiff's have been haunting me for over a month. Seeing them here just up's the ante. Man, those are gorgeous.
Go for it Shawn... they take a while to make though. I ordered mine last July and they were just delivered today.

I haven’t seen a lot of the EG crup posted. I’d love to hear impressions, the finishing seems different from Alden. Also has anyone done MTO crup?

from when you put the order in until the shoes were delivered, how much time passed?

The last EG MTO I did through Leffot took nearly a year!

A year? No offense to EG, but it isn’t bespoke. That seems excessive.
I never really got a straight answer from Leffot. This was at the now defunct Chicago location. I kept getting excuses like quality control as well as the pilfering of experienced craftsmen by a new, rival shoemaker.

I finally emailed EG directly and expressed my frustration. That seemed to get the ball rolling.

New arrivals from Cavour (@kevinsvindland) today. Galway Shearling in London Grain and Mink Suede. Took them out for a quick walk with my ferocious hound before dark.View attachment 1359984View attachment 1359985

I'm an unabashed Alden guy and am fortunate enought to have some really nice rare birds in my boot collection. I never thought a pair of calfskin boots would jump to the top of my list but these are simply incredible. It is more than coincidental that after 4 years, I changed my avatar.

Congrats on a great score and likely at a great price.
