To my eye this is the ideal angle of the point of the peak. Points to the tip of the shoulder where the sleeve and shoulder meet. This has been my way of styling peaks. Would prefer a slightly higher gorge. Don't like peaks that point to the sky, are too flat or have zealous amounts of belly.

When the point of the peak is more horizontal than this. Would point below the point of the shoulder/sleeve.I would even say that pointed lapels always look better this way - on both, the single and double breasted, jackets. It just looks sloppy and wannabe sprezzatura when I see these massive pointed lapels that extend over the shoulder line. What do you mean by "flat" in this instance though?
