I fail to see how $345k in NYC is "high society" in any sense of the word.

High society in a place like NYC probably starts around $5M per year, not including stock options and other perks that go on the company budget. Hell, $5M probably wouldn't even get you into a decent country club, and it certainly won't get you a nice house in the Hamptons.
