Theres a reason I like good tequila and gin.
These are alcohols with true flavor, with spice... and believe me, I enjoy drinking them straight a little too much...

The thing about adding citrus though, particularly lime to either good gin or tequila, is not only does it complement the bite and flavor of the alcohol, it takes a little of the edge off and smooths out the night.

If you're just knockin them back straight, well.... you're not likely to be good conversation now, are you?

Bottom line, yes, esp a pink one :)

Really, it's a fairly common phenomenon. The concept of masculinity has become so eroded that men think it is merely being more 'hardcore' if you will, than women in all things. It's really lame.

Very true. Contrary to what popular media depicts, masculinity and femininity were meant to be compatible, not competitive.

Well, well, well. Things are, or can be, only what you make of them. Surely, if you just want to get hammered, there's Everclear. Or Colt 45. There are also people infusing bacon, herbs, and other things into spirits, gelling Creme de Violette into little spheres floated into gin and lemon. In between there is an incredible spectrum. I am on my front porch, drinking a Last Word. The damned thing is incredible. It appeals to my mind as much as my palate, dancing around my tongue; minuet in a glass. It also has 4.5oz of spirits in it. I shan't have another, but this one is a beautiful experience. As an engineer, I can tell you that it wasn't rocket science to construct, but I did weigh the ingredients, and the experience was better for it. Anyway, just because you are kidding yourself doesn't mean I am kidding myself. Humanity is a larger box than most feel it is. Best, ~H

I had one cocktail after dinner last night. I am still playing around with manhattans. Last night was:

2 oz Cask 16 Crown Royal
1 oz Vya sweet
splash of Marascino liqueur
eye dropper of Tango bitters

So smooth and aromatic.

Cheers

I think it's assumed that brown = manly, other colors = girly for drinks. I disagree, but people seem to make that generalization.

Martini is not a martini, unless you use gin. Vodka = Kangaroo Kicker (m8).

I agree, but then its just a matter of semantics at this point.

To me what's important:

You shouldn't be discriminated against if you ask for a vodka martini. Ever since James Bond came on the scene, its a legitimate drink to ask for in a bar, uncool as it sounds.

But I agree that the bartender should be ashamed of himself if you ask for a martini and you get a vodka martini.

But in the end its all just booze, and as long as we enjoy it responsibly, the rest shouldn't matter as much.

Every application of a sound to represent an abstract concept is "semantics." Btw, the original Bond martini was a Vesper, containing both gin and vodka.

I drink Gin and tonics, no one has ever considered it un-mainly to my knowledge. Beer makes me uncomfortably full after a few glasses.

Or I drink vodka on the rocks, I've yet to have someone call me a lightweight for that one.
