I'm a recent college graduate with a BA in English, also minored in Professional Writing. My goal is to become a literary agent. Due to circumstances, and to my regret, I didn't do any internships while in college. My question is, which of these scenarios will be more advantageous to eventually becoming a literary agent:
a) Get a full-time job in the publishing industry, most likely as an editor, and somehow transition over to talent representation.
b) Do a part-time, unpaid internship for a literary agency and after the internship is over hopefully get a job with that agency or use that experience to find a job as a junior agent at another agency.
Also, apart from an internship at a lit agency, is there anything else I can do to help myself become a lit agent? Thanks.
