Man, Angel just came to Netflix Canada, so I've been spending my off-time watching it. Damn those were amazing shows. Was not a huge fan of how either ended (both became bigger than I felt what they could handle, at least one of them got a real ending). So dissapointed in how Angel was cancelled without at true conclusion.

And now with a Buffy remake for the big-screen on the way, I'm feeling a little nostalgic.

Any fans of the series here? Any preference?

Whedon needs another show. I never did get into Dollhouse, which was just as well. But another sci-fi, or something set in the Buffy/Angel universe.

I just started rewatching Buffy from Season 1. I'm about 10 episodes in.

I tried to watch the show while it was on tv in the last few seasons but I never really was able to watch all the later seasons in their entirety. Looking forward to seeing all the episodes finally.

The show has not really aged well though, but what 90's teen dramadies have?

I've never watched Angel though. Or Firefly. Or Dollhouse.

Did Spike have his own show as well? I'm pretty sure he had a comic book, but don't recall if there was a show.

I was also rather disappointed with how they ended it, but overall it was a great series. I liked Buffy when it first started but fell out of it after the first couple of seasons.

No, Spike never had his own show. After Buffy ended he joined Angel in the last season (season 5).

When Buffy first came on I couldn't watch it. It was kinda bad. Then mid 2nd season, I caught an episode, and it just sucked. Badly. So I thought the entire show was that bad. Finally watched a couple episodes later on, and realized I had watched the only bad ones haha. It was a great show.

Firefly is in a league of its own. Watch it, enjoy it, and weep for its loss. It really is one of the best shows of all time. As a Star Trek fan, I really like it because it gives you the other side. Instead of existing in a socialist-utopia with strong central command.... you lived on the outside of all that?

Angel was the superior show IMO. They took more risks and were edgier in their dark humour than Buffy was willing to.

I never watched Angel, but I was a huge Buffy Fan. I still contend that it had some of the smartest writing in network TV history.

I went so far as to download some of the "Buffy Season 8" comics. Big mistake. Whedon needs the constraints of a TV effects budget.

Agreed. Season 8 was absurd.

Huge Buffy/Angel/Firefly fan here. Thought the first three seasons of Buffy were excellent, and then after that there was a general decline. However, there were a number of great episodes in the later seasons: Hush, Once more with feeling, The Body.

I like Angel more overall, although I might be in the minority when I say that I liked the way the show went out given the circumstances.

I can't talk about firefly. I still weep.

Buffy was great.

The people who jumped in at random episodes are truly missing out. One of the greatest strength's of the series were the little continuities they paid attention to, minor development in relationships that were usually more interesting than the actual episode, referential inside jokes, etc. I was much more interested in how the characters interacted with one another and developed than in the actual fighting.

Angel is hit and miss for me. I liked the way it handled a lot of things, but disliked many other aspects. Mostly, the story just kind of bogged down and I kept asking myself what the point was.

And finally, gratuitous lesbian scenes involving Alyson Hannigan

Your right, Angel and Buffy, even during "Monster of the week" episodes, still either had great character or plot developments. So few sci-fi/fantasy do this well. So few shows of any type.

+1. He's the only one that dresses decently, as well.
