Note: This is NOT Joe Hemrajani of www.mytailor.com

I wanted to alert any customers of Bermini or Mr. Joe Hemrajani to our experiences from this past year:

We ordered 4 custom-tailored shirts on February 17, 2008 from Mr. Joe Hemrajani, through Bermini Tailors on Lexington Avenue in NYC. We paid up front through credit card and through a gift certificate. We were told the shirts would be ready within 6 - 8 weeks. We failed on several attempts to retrieve the shirts. It is now July, we still have not received the shirts. We spoke with Mr. Hemrajani and other representatives of Bermini several times during this period. We received few, if any, apologies. We did, however, receive myriad excuses. We made one final attempt to pick up the shirts this week and left empty-handed. At this point, we obviously do not want the shirts.

We attempted to obtain a full refund this week but were, again, mislead by Mr. Hemrajani. At the time we were to meet him in the Bermmini office, he was not there. In fact, we were informed by the building & office management, that Mr. Hemrajani and Bermini Tailors have been kicked out of the building for nonpayment of rent.

We have filed a suit with the NY Civil Court and are awaiting our court date. We have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I'd be curious to see if anyone else has had similar problems with Mr. Hemrajani or Bermini. I also urge anyone who was doing business with him to use caution!

Wow that seems odd as I've only seen positive things written about them on here. I myself have gotten one shirt from them and they were always quick in responding to my emails.

What types of excuses were they giving for the delays?

And were Bermini Tailors and Hemrajani one in the same or was that just a local NYC tailor that sold their shirts?

We actually worked directly with Joe Hemrajani. I believe he was the founder of Bermini in 2004. I think he also has a company called MyTailor.com? We were told there was a delay with the tailor (I think it was in Italy) - but we had to call to find this out; no one ever took the initiative to let us know. We were told the delay would be another 8 weeks. But no luck then, either. For the past several times we've called or visited the shop we were told that the shirts were at the warehouse but would be brought to the shop. No luck there, either 3 times. Finally, we were to meet him to get a refund today -- but no one was there when we arrived. The office manager told my fiancee that Bermini hadn't been paying rent and that many angry customers had been coming by.

You should be very careful in your assumptions. I believe that there are two Joe Hemrajani's (as difficult as that is to believe). The one that owns MyTailor.com lives in California and is different from the Bermini guy in New York I believe.

+1. The Bermini guy is not the Hemrajani from mytailor.com

    That helps things.

My post was referencing my experience with the Joe Hemrajani of MyTailor.com

Strangely, it only costs $15 (considerably less than what we paid for the shirts) to file a small claims suit with the NY Civil Court.

The costly part is collecting the judgment.

Ok....good to know it's a different Joe as the Joe Hemrajani from mytailor.com has provided excellent shirts and very good customer service in the 2+ years that I have worked with him.

americanliverswb: good luck with your case.

I had the same experience. I am going to file a criminal complaint and would like other victims to join me. Please let me know how to contact you.

There are three JH's that I have seen referenced. JH in nyc from this post, JH from mytailor.com ( from hong kong, but lives in CA and has a good reputation) and one other JH that worked with some noname group but might have been out of thailand.

The mytailor JH is based out of california with their sewing/manufacturing done in HK/china and only does business as mytailor.com on their USA travel tours. They do not do "OEM" type work with other vendors that I am aware of. Their reputation is also very high, in that I haven't seen a single post stating they had horrible service, a couple improperly fit people, a quality issue and a complaint or two about how long the suits/shirts took but overall very positive.

The other Joes have only had negative reviews so far.

Let me be another to say that Joe Hemrajani from mytailor.com provides excellent customer service. He personally responds to any concerns or complaints. He's honest, and he often goes beyond what is needed to make things right.
