Glad you are home safely!
I honestly still use lubricant with my boning most times anyway. Take as you will.I am highly interested in how these develop. Please don't stop posting about these!
I recall reading that the deer bone sold for cordovan care is infused/stuffed with oils and fats. With that in mind, I don't think simply drying out a leg bone from a fresh kill is likely to produce the desired effect. You would still need to apply a conditioning lubricant (bick 4, VSC, whatever). At which point, are you really better off than just using a spoon?
Neo recommends starting at 65 size minus a width. I found TTS minus a width worked better (same as several other loafers). Patriot is a better fit still due to lower cone heightQuick question Gents and @ae_ashley.
Shell cordovan Randolph, true to size? I'm 10D in pretty much everything lace up, not dialed in on slip on loafers. Thanks for any advice and assistance!
That is my experience with Randolph as well. I'd need an A width to make Randolphs work, and they don't make them. In my normal B width, the heels are too roomy and I can't keep them on my feet. Patriots work great for me, so nachally, they're being discontinued.Loafers are so hard to size. Randolphs in my Braddock size slip in the heel. I have two pair of shell Randolph loafers with that problem. They are 9.5D’s. I put a tongue pad in, which maybe helped a little? Have never tried a size down in that model.
I have a couple pairs of shell Patriots in 9D. They fit better in the heel, but are tight over the arch.
Interested in other’s responses.
Those are gorgeous! I love my Higgies, too - coming on 2 years with the Brown CXL version - thinking I may need at least one of the shell versions, too...View attachment 1276843
Bloomin’ a bit while breaking in on a sunny fall day.
These are the first HMs (bought a couple of weeks ago) I ever tried, and they fit so amazingly well that I already have the brown shell variant on order . . .
Malcolm out, prices going up. Mark my words.

@pedarius are those in size 8.5 D? I know someone recently picked up a pair in that size that I was somewhat considering.
A little brown in town this morning with an eccru shirt. These haven't seen the light of day in quite some time.
Brown shell in sunlight is just sublime. Looks like Hershey's chocolate.

It seems to me that AE still holds an in-betweener spot in the market. If prices raise, I expect the quality/finish to be high and also consistent. I think they've made gains, overall, in the past ~2 years. Though it seems they are still a smidge behind their up-market neighbors.Malcolm out, prices going up. Mark my words.
