Those look terrific! Which model is that..getting my old Long Branches out for a little OBDF

Rancourt Pamolas MTO in expresso shell and had them skip the shine. Have plenty of brown shell boots but wanted some shell for true outdoor work, a regular wear boot taking advantage of the tough material. I imagine the shell boots back in the early 1900s were worn for durability more than the glow and I am treating these like they are CXL. @stephenaf2003 posted a pic of unglazed natty NST Riders awhile ago and they looked very interesting, an option I had never considered before.

Rancourt discontinued the Pamolas but they are same as the Knox pattern for mto purposes. About an inch taller than Daltons made for me on the 555 last.

Have been eyeing one more MTO lol even as I consider my shopping done...
a 10 ounce thick olive chromepak plain toe in this same tall design.
Usually material is half that thick or less.

Rancourt is quite willing to play MTO, even offering my size 15 despite never offering that to public yet. I will soon be a dozen pairs into them having loaded up on green/olive options.

Scott White is the dream maker, he has hustled to find a yes to every question I have asked.
He is a filthy barn weasel.

After reviewing my collection, I realize just how second tier it is. Especially when I factor in just how cheap I really am. My latest two shell acquisitions cost a grand total of $425. I have not bought a shoe over $159 in at least 2 years. Sure some of them are fantastic but I really have nothing of note that is one of a kind or at least vintage that is hard to obtain. My plan is to upgrade with a few great purchases per year instead of a bunch of inexpensive shoes that I could have had a few years earlier.

I would say you absolutely have a shot at these if you're at all interested. Picture in your mind the Patriot, but with a full heel instead of the narrow heel, and basically a softer vamp that doesn't really press down on you. The only tricky thing is the Italian stuff only comes in D or EEE. I think you're EEE anyway, but EEE is BIG in these. Full heel, flex vamp, EEE, you may not be able to keep them on.
that right there was my fear...a big EEE. I can't usually make EEE work in loafers because of the heel. Might still give them a try at some point

That is great to hear! have a few Rancourt's and always planned to MTO a boot but never really did get to it. I started MTO's through Truman around the same time. I have a nice olive bison moc style shoe from them and some boat shoes....though much like AE the boat shoe pattern is just a touch off in terms of design for my taste. In a perfect world I would have Rancourt or AE make the Sperry boat shoe pattern,,,,Sperry leather sucks now even the Gold Cup line but their pattern is top notch.

Pretty much the same. The only two full priced shoes I’ve picked up were the GTMO Kudu Higgins ($350), and my MTO Shark Higgins ($840,yikes full price plus custom fee!).

Otherwise, AE has got NO new money from me. All I’ve grabbed are eBay bargains on OLDER models, long discontinued, like the Medford. Oh, and a brown Normandy 2nd for $99 in the beginning of the year/ end of last year.

They’ve produced NOTHING of interest to me AT ALL. Had there been DECENT MTO options that would have been much different. If I could go apeshit like Bagley with Rancourt, I’d be in trouble.

Have not been on the AE site in forever...damn that Sullivan Mill would have been the darling int he old MTO days...took them a long time to the Edward Green Galway but looks like they did it right.
I Still prefer your Shakers MTO.

The Sullivan is the last model that’s come close t tempting me. But I find it just a bit off. I’m not crazy about the leather quality, though that applies to most new AE calf. It’s off from a few years ago, and way off from 15+ years ago.

Thanks and those Shakers are still one of my faves....sucks to hear about the quality going down so much.

Agree something slightly odd there with the pattern...i think they went for a bit too much sleekness in the toe. My EG pair is similar but they refined that pattern so it is very balanced.

I am sure we could have had some killer MTOs and had them do a different last.

Have you made any recent purchases?

I can’t get the Verona II to work at all. Considering my heritage, you would think it would work fine. I am the only one in my family that does not have beefy high volume feet. I think I was adopted.

I went through the same realization. In an effort to find AEs that fit, I bought lots of shoes on Ebay, plus seconds from the bank. In the end I had a lot of shoes and nothing really “special.” I sold lots of these back on Ebay. Much of this has now been corrected now that I found what fits and started picking up a few better shoes.
