A question for those with far more experience in the shoe game. I have been coveting a pair of AS Moore since I started wearing better shoes a bit over a year ago. I have purchased 9 pairs of AE, with some poor quality pairs along the way - but their customer service has been great and they are easy to return.

I finally pulled the trigger on the Moore, they look fantastic, but the heel doesn't sit flat. I have seen this on a pair of AE, but I returned them so I don't know how it would wear. Is this something that will go away after breaking in? I purchased from AFPOS, so return may be expensive. I made the assumption that the QC would be stronger, both at AS and AFPOS.

Thanks for any guidance and happy holidays!

I would put this more on AS as any distributor will not inspect every single product; that is the manufacturer's job. I would guess that might eventually become flush after some wear.

AS' QC is definitely stronger than AE. As much as AE provides options in their price point, their value to many is their MTO flexibility, regular sale/deep discounts, and factory seconds.

I wouldn't really give that a second thought. Who knows what happened between production, storage & shipping with temperature and humidity changes. May have even happened on the flight for delivery. But I would suspect once you wear them a few times, it would settle. I have those shoes and the leather is fairly robust but breaks in nicely. I would perhaps examine the shoe trees to make sure they are straight.

AS for Herring Moriarty, 109 last looks great!
I actually managed to pick these up in the last sale. They're very nice. I've worn them out a few times and they seem to be doing quite well so far. It feels like a much better boot than my balmorals from Meermin.

Thanks @OzWino yes, cherry. It's a beautiful colour that I think will just get even better as they wear. Few more pics in better light today. :)

This is my first real post, recently bought a pair of AS hunt from AFPOS, great service, shined up the shoes and shot these photos lying on me belly.
