Is yours the only reference to earth studies on the forum? How did you find the sizing? I just ordered a pair of shorts and eager to see if the Mediums will work for me.

I went with my normal alpha size on the shorts; pockets are absolutely huge especially the bungee cord one. Could fit a toddler in it.

Yep sizing for earth studies is maybe a bit oversized, but that is kinda the point. Normal alpha size all the way. The pants are perfect for actually hiking, the dropped crotch and oversized fit is just killer, so comfy, I have worn mine all summer fall and winter in the PNW while getting out and exploring the natural world.

And for 18e content, I am really digging my rendall utility shirts. Haven’t seen anyone mention them, but I have both and love them. Underrated!!

@MichaelPemulis do you have the patchwork field pants (MP-103) or the slimmer/tapered trail pants (MP-102)?

If you have the patchwork ones do you think they could fill in for something like the EG patchwork fatigues from a few years ago (and can be worn in most casual outfits) if you hide the belt or does it look too gorpcore/outdoorsy in person and you'd mainly wear it for outdoor activities like hiking? I have enough acg/north face outdoor pants.

I was thinking with the dropped crotch it might be the latter? Although it doesn't look too dropped in the website pics. Thanks.

I have both the patchwork and the tapered. I think the patchwork might give off less "climbing/hiking pant" vibes, but both of them are nice enough to be pretty versatile. like hiking in visvim. the crotch doesn't look very dropped in product pics, but I feel like it is, at least for the patchworks in the XL. I actually have those EG patchwork fatigues (and perhaps even bought them from you??) and those skew more menswear casual, but the E/S skew more modern/of the moment. This is all deeply subjective, just sharing my thoughts. E/S stuff also goes great with 18E.

Pretty happy with how this experiment turned out. I picked up a pair of block-printed trek pants from @Chunsak. I really liked them and thought the print was very cool, but I have a hard time with loud pants, so I decided to try dyeing them. I knew that I probably end up with some outline of the print showing through, but the end result was better than expected IMO.

Love this, cool way to make something work for you. How did you dye them?

Thanks! It was actually a fair bit more work than I first thought, as the original pattern used dye resist where the undyed sections were. I ended up doing a bit of research and using a fibre-reactive dye and pre-treating them with soda ash to get the dye to take in the dye resist sections.

This is what the original material looked like

can anyone that has these tell me how these fit?

I've had older single pleats in large that measured up to 38" in the waist, so I wanted to make sure the measurements on the site were accurate.
