Exactly... doesn't look like a "nutsack" when you're wearing the shoe, it looks like a pocket and it coheres perfectly and balances everything out. Astros would look awkward without it.

D'oh, I just noticed that. I actually re-laced them criss-cross style when I got them. I'm lacing them back now.

No difference...I think I'll call the MMM store in LA tomorrow to see if they carry longer laces. I'd hate to have to swap these out for longer skinnier laces.

Typically, one length of laces are used for several different sizes of shoes. Once you go high/low enough, the laces used will be shorter/longer. You could very well be on the high end of the range that uses X length laces, and the next size up may use longer ones.
