when i think hollywood, i think sleazy executives, shady agents, the Appreciation industry, fake boobs, and general artificialness. i am not sure how kids are supposed to dress "hollywood." maybe they are talking about the golden age?

'Hollywood' is a better theme than 'Class of the Millennium' . . .

i won't be wearing the tux or very seldom after prom. hence the reason for a suit jacket/blazer. i'm thinking of something more casual to maximise the usage of it. what would be better for me? I'm 171cm, 2 buttons or 3? I've done a search but i can't get a definite answer. Would the beatles/click five look be appropriate?

Unless your classmates have agreed on a coherent and consistent construal of 'Hollywood' dress, it's hard to say what will be 'appropriate'.

I remember wanting to standout at my prom--that's why every guy winds up in some bizarre costume-of-a-tux. But you gotta figure that your tastes will change a great deal over the next few years and various social occasions will require a tuxedo. Very rarely will a casual suit like the one you've posted pass muster. If you'll be going to college, such a suit is too much for class, and not appropriate for formals.

I suppose when they say Hollywood, its the red carpet kind of style? Suits, tuxedos and the likes. They wouldn't want to turn up in a captain planet's costume, would they? haha

Nothing says "Hollywood" more than a notch-lapel tuxedo with a four-in-hand tie!
