I've gotten comments from "friends" who dress horribly (baggy Quiksilver shirts, Baggy Levi Jeans, Nikes/NB, huge hoodies) ragging on my cardigans. Safe to say we are not friends anymore.

Definitely not friends to begin with. More like friends of friends hence "friends". If my friends say anything about my dress, I would take it into consideration but I do not care about what strangers or other people think.

I used to get the 'nice skinny pants, ***' type comments... then I realized who they were coming from and adjusted my world to not include people so down on themselves that they can't even let people wear what they want to. North America is gonna be rough on people with stylistic intentions... here I can get away with anything short of wearing a dress, pretty much. You don't want to walk into a sports bar in a Socal2NYC kind of outfit, but unless you live in complete bumblefuck, you can find cool enough places to hang out where people aren't going judge your dress.

You could come to California. In Long Beach the high school kids are apparently having a competition to see who can wear jeans so tight you can count pubes on a nutsack through em.
