It's been my experience that Oliver Peoples build quality does not compare favorably with Salt, especially since the Luxottica takeover. Just a matter of opinion of course.

Sad but true. Mass production is never good for quality.

And for the record,... record?... The brow on the 1586's is whats "low key" for a Wayfarer. Not the FN' G.
And since we are all on the record here, if you are going to rock Wayfarers... Then ROCK Wayfarers. B&L 5024/5022. Worked for Jack. Might work for you.
Which is where, that's right...here it comes... enjoy it baby, you get to be right again.
And if you just can't pull it off, go soft and get thee to a pair of Aviators.

Your endorsement of Gucci now makes perfect sense. Please carry on.

What's the take on mirrored lenses? I found some nice aviators with them, but I'm afraid of looking like a cop..They're not super mirrored, just pretty reflective. Frames are shiny black by the way.

Seems like there's a bit of mixed thoughts on these. I have some Ray Ban Caravans that are mirrored, and I like them. However, the guy at my optic shop really hates them. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I've written once or twice about eyeframes of late but in the interest of elucidation, would anyone know more about or have experienced some of the featured designers such as Francois Pinton, Ralph Vaessen, Rapp or Serengeti?

It's really going to depend on the image you want to project, and how the rest of your outfit looks. Mirrored lenses tend to catch people's attention more often, much like gradient lenses. They're a little more "showy". If you don't mind that, go for it, the world needs more people wearing something besides Wayfarers.
