Which is not much of an endorsement if you consider some of the garbage that made up the rest of the list.

damn, papashoe really upped their pricing. I just bought some black cherry beckman 9010, for 180 w/ the discount. Looks like they added around $70 to all their boots (for about two months they were 70 lest w/o coupon). I was actually contemplating getting some IRs or round-toe classic wedge boots. Pretty unfortunate now, but I guess its okay, since I really didn't need em.

I strongly disagree. Of all the shoes I own (probably 20 pair, almost all high end), I would say RW is probably one of the brands with the best bang for your buck at retail. Plus with all these discount codes, they are imo really a good boot for the price, assuming you like the styles.

Anyone have the 8" J Crew / Red Wing Irish Setter model? The one with the white soles? I see various people trying them on in the store and it looks good, but they seem very clunky. My next pair of RW i likely going to be a muleskin or some other light shade of Iron Ranger for the early spring / spring period

Don't think they're any clunkier than the rest of the Red Wing classics. I tried them on and liked them a lot, but they're $350, and I was able to grab a pair of 1907s for < $130 after discount/Bing cashback from Endless the other day. I'd prefer the J. Crew model, but not at $220 more. Soonami - nice collection. I haven't been a fan of the Iron Rangers but really like the look of yours with some wear on them. How's you size vs. the J. Crew model?

For the past couple years I've been wearing a pair of Frye Harness 8R boots, and those have been good in the winter.

I bought a pair of Classic Lifestyle 8138 and am wondering what sort of treatment I should give them for the winter.

Are they at all protective in the snow / rain?

I have a pair of those in the Russet which is a burnt orange/red color. They are SUPREMELY comfortable (after putting in my insole which I do for all boots), not sure if that's cuz of the vibram sole but it's basically a GT with vibram. Sizing is the same as GT. The leather used is different, the GT is shine-able but these (not even sure what they are called) are more of a matte finish with a slight "rubbery" texture to the leather (waterproof?) that always stays matte. They didnt need the requisite break in that GTs do as the leather isnt as stiff.
