Hmm interesting.. Castle Rock is usually good, but where was the pinot from? i liked the 2008 Mendocino, and hated the Monterrey.

If you guys are looking for a nice $10-12 Pinot check out Angeline 2007 Russian River Valley When I first opened it I wasn't too impressed. Maybe because I was feeling like crap call day but who knows. So, after I had a glass and the GF had half a glass I popped the cork in and put it back in the cellar. The next couple of days it was drinking very very well for a $12 pinot. I guess I should have given it a good few hour decant in my wide carafe. PS. I also have a bottle of William Seylem 2006 Russian River Valley Pinot in the cellar and am contemplating opening it this weekend. Do you guys think I just keep it away for awhile or crack it open this weekend?

Went out to dinner on Tuesday night, had a wonderful Manhattan made with Crown Royal Special Reserve

Did the wine pairing witht the tasting menu as well, wines included: a brut, chardonnay, gamay noir, syrah/grenache blend and a tawny port. Brut, Chardonnay and Gamay Noir were all from BC. Only name I can remember was the syrah/grenache which was Delas - Cotes du Ventoux. Everything was very nice.

so hard to tell with these pinot noirs sometime, I have no idea what the tannin structure is like. If it's absent, I'd open it sooner than later. But tough call. I can't say it would benefit nicely from added time in the cellar, why not pop it and have some fun.

most stuff from the Medoc in Bordeaux will be similar. The Italians also do it well.

Not been reading great things about the 06 vintage in general, and seems they need time. That's a premiere winery though.
