You could say that for nearly everyone on this list though. Thats sort of the point, isn't it?

B.A.G. has been into music for years. Pretty much since 902190912902190 was canceled.

Dang.....there's truth in what you're saying.

What's worse, a tv actor trying to make a rap album, or a wack rapper who does it for a living?

Its not "what's worse" its "what's the difference".

I don't see much of a difference between a actor, or athlete who puts out a ****** rap album and a ****** rapper who puts out a ****** rap album. I mean - the end product in either case is a ****** rap album, right?

Hmm I would make a distinction there. A ****** rapper at least had to come up through some kind of ranks, play some shows, write lyrics, make demos in basements etc in order to convince some record exec that he is not, in fact, a ****** rapper.

A celebrity who makes an album on the otherhand foregoes any attempt at quality control, any of the playing small crappy shows to try to develop some skill etc. They just get it handed to them because the label thinks that in can bank on pre existing star power for sales.

Remember when Sam (as in Malone, on Cheers) got a job as a sportscaster and decided to pep up his slot by rapping? "so get your sports from a guy like me, who knows what's like to get a groin injury"...

I think that with the majority of names on this list, any semblance of "quality control" in the music industry is a myth. There is only marketing. Whether that marketing happens to be a recognizable name from another medium, or hyped through other sources... i still don't see the difference. You can't honestly expect me to believe that Vanilla Ice paid his dues in the "streets" as a rapper, only to magically ascend to the status he did because of quality control...

chalk another one up on the "mildly offended" list that KrisKros is there, srsly.
i went to a 90s dance party at a local club and when "jump" came on i threw down - although that entire night was full of more dope than an addict, Informer,Sclub7, House of Pain.... hell..yeah..

My former partner Georgina found my renditions of 'Straight Outta Compton' hilarious.

Apparently I am 'white, just so totally white'.

Oh well, a ***** is a *****....

actually I deliberately avoided phrases like 'paid his dues' and 'in the streets' in my post as I knew someone would throw it back at me if I did. Didn't use, still got thrown back

No, I don't think Vanilla Ice 'paid his dues in the streets', but I do think he went through a more stringent process of rehearsals and spent longer working on his rapping than Shaquille O'Neal did...for exactly the reason that you said. Shaq is more easily marketable.

Really? I'd like to see your evidence of that.
