Hudson Manhattan Rye whiskey straight up. Very interesting taste. Almost has a hint of pine like the single malt they make.

I don't think the second one is a brandy.

My firends and I did enjoy most of a bottle of Laphroaig 25 this weekend. A shame its so expensive.

You're right, a google image search finds that to be a bourbon bottle.

Its a bottle of Le Grande Passion from the 1930's and a bottle of Bourbon that was made in 1917 and bottled in 1932 (?). The bartender said it was government-approved as a "tonic", so it was allowed to be sold as a medicine. Certainly tasted medicinal, but good like an old house. The swell bartenders at Vessel provided tastes of these for a small fee.

I'm really enjoying a new cocktail Kyle at Rye in SF has come up with. The Carosello.
Egg white
Lemon juice
Gin
Aperol
Carpano Antica

Mix and shake over ice, strain into a cocktail glass.
The vermouth and egg white froth and make the drink very creamy. It's dry, somewhat astringent, a touch of bitterness. very refreshing.

I have been doing a lot of Johnnie black. Only in Atlanta can it be 50 cents cheaper than a plain Jameson.
