Hello. I'm considering purchasing a custom name necklace as a gift, but I'm a bit unsure about a few things. Firstly, I'm wondering about the material options available for these necklaces. Are there certain materials that are better suited for everyday wear, or do they all hold up equally well? Additionally, I'm curious about the font options. Are there specific fonts that tend to look better or are more popular for custom name necklaces? I want to ensure that the font I choose is clear and legible while still being aesthetically pleasing. Lastly, I'm interested in hearing about your experiences with custom name necklaces. Have you purchased one before, and if so, how was your overall experience? Any tips or advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

I've never gotten anything like that, but gold is probably as hypoallergenic as you get, and quite pleasant to wear as long as it's not overly heavy as well.

Are there any makers in Japan someone can recommend? I will be there to run the Tokyo marathon and was thinking of getting something to commemorate it, probably a bracelet. I'll be travelling around Japan for a few weeks so they don't necessarily need to be in Tokyo.

Thanks.

I personally like things like Guidi, though I know the that’s a style that might feel a bit dated right now.

Any recommendations how to best remove tarnish and restore shiny silver?

Hadn't worn my Goodart Shazam cutout in a few months and was surprised it had tarnished.

I've tried baking soda and vinegar, handsanitizer cleanse, washing with soap and water, and polishing for a while with soft cloth.

It's improved but nowhere near like when I bought it.

What's worked for me is lining a bowl with aluminum foil, sprinkling in a teaspoon or two or baking soda, pouring boiling water into that bowl, and dropping silver in for a couple of minutes, moving it around periodically.

I'm a pipe smoker and can tell you a simple method of removing tarnish from silver adorning pipes. Simply wet a tissue, dip it in ash of some sort and rub out the silver. Instantly removes tarnish.
