I have had four of these deliveries in the last two days thanks to you jackasses. Acrimony levels in the household are high.

but always remember that it is easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission.

I used you as justification for yesterday's cabs.

Can't say that I recommend it, but getting a divorce has made things a bit simpler in this regard. Clothes buying too.

I'm picking up the Barolo today and then have two deliveries to the office tomorrow. That will only leave the Piper Heidsieck that I bought on Jan 24th that seems to be in limbo and the Burgess from yesterday hanging out there. (Am I officially out of control yet?)

My ex got half of the wine collection in the divorce. I've bought a couple of the big bottles that she didn't want back from her. Talked to her the other day about maybe buying some of the midrange bottles back, but now that I've found WTSO and Cindy, her prices are WAY too high. She's going to have to get more realistic or get to drinking.

i can just see that: "aw, ms. pio, all the other kids are doing it! that MAnton (or Manton), his wife lets him buy whatever he wants."

also, thanks for the heds up on the fontanafredda. that's one i would have gone in on. really nice mid-level old-style producer. should be good drinking.

it helps to have a solidly wine educated other. "You know what the yields in the 2004 vintage were like, tell me you think there is another alkaline sedimentary rock-based soil region you think we should look at instead and I'll check it out. Until then, lets jump on this wine"

And I hope the Fontanafredda is solid, I couldn't pass it up at $20

If I lived there, I'd be all over The Methuselah package! We've got four vinter's or wine dinners between now and March 4th lined up

Mrs. Piob knows Manton's intimate knowledge of Napa so all she had to hear was $25 a bottle and he bought.

It's on the 13th, so that just means you can have five over the next three weeks instead.

that could work with a non solidly wine-educated other. I'd get about halfway through that spiel and my wife would be begging me to buy it just to get me to shut up before she passed out from boredom.

truth.

Or, I like the other Manton approach for the Didier "this guy died tragically last year, we need to enjoy this little bit before it's all gone"

Yeah, that worked rather well for me too. Of course, now I've got it all set up for a great dinner built around the two wines, so she's all in.
