50 years from now people are going to be listening to those Dylan recordings about as much as they listen to Leadbelly or Woody Gurthry today. Hendrix and Prince both fall into the same category for me: guitarists who have some illusory style that I don't understand. Maybe a guitarist would have to explain it to me, but in terms of composition they seem lackluster and shallow so whatever magic they're doing solely to the guitar must be missing my ears.
