I'm looking for a decent beater shoe/boot that is not to dressy. I think I'm going to give desert boots in beeswax and brown suede a shot.

Does anyone own of pair of these?

How is the quality? Are they to casual for a business casual IT environment?

I have 4 pairs of Clarks Desert boots and I much prefer them to those. Just my opinion.

The Clarks look better with age. I think they are made better also. Thicker sole - etc.

I don't know if this works for you, but you could keep a pair of slip on boots and a "tech" jacket, like a lab coat around the office. when you need to do physical work, you slip on the boots and coat and don't have to worry.

Worked outside for one job, then the other was 50/50 inside outside (retail), first one provided the clothing except the loggers boots that were required. The second job was retail, and Polo jeans/kaki's/shorts were what everyone wore (even the managers). I ruined quite bit of polo's, shoes and jeans/pants. Keeped getting holes in them, seams would break while I was lifting an item or get snagged on something. I'd suggest be prepared to throw anything if you work outside.
