Wool trousers for walking longer distances

Hi! Usually I walk around 5-6km (3-3.5mi) to work and sometimes about as much during my lunch break. I prefer wearing wool trousers as opposed to something designed with more durability in mind such as denim when at the office.

With that in mind, is cavalry twill my best option for fabric in terms of durability, particularly in the crotch area (aside from having extra cloth sewn-in to that area)? Or does fabric choice not matter that much in your experience?

Thanks!

I have a very similar situation (I walk a LOT in my wool trousers). I found fabric matters a lot, and cavalry twill is probably the best you can get. I have a pair from 2020 that show hardly any wear, despite being some of my most worn trousers. I have 2 pairs of cavalry twill trousers now, and I'm considering 2 more. Outside of summer heat, I consider it the best fabric around for trousers.

However, also consider fit: a roomier fit prolongs the life expectancy of your trousers by a lot, especially if your walking has given you muscled legs.

Thanks for the reply. Do you by chance have some RTW brand recommendations? It seems fairly difficult to find cavalry twill trousers outside of MTO, which I think I will ultimately go with.
