What effect does narrowing the yoke have on a shirt?

I'm going for freedom of movement and being able to raise my hands above my head with ease. As I would imagine, narrowing the yoke would make my shoulder arm seams closer to my body, allowing for an easier range of motion, no? Can someone explain what effects occur when you narrow or extend the yoke in terms of range of movement, slim, and aesthetics?
