As you might have heard, there is a drought in California, and even when there isn't a drought, it doesn't rain in July.

However, there is rain, thunder, and lightning today, and most (but not all) people had the good sense to stay inside.

Brooks Brothers umbrella (with a wooden shaft so it doesn't attract lightning), white cotton sweater, and tan, grey, and brown plaid shirt, Land's End trousers, and Nordstrom's saddle shoes......

I realize its 'your thing' Roy, but I think this photo demonstrates more than ever that trimmer trousers would look more flattering on you.

However, as I don't post pics, feel free to ignore this comment.

Gents, I know its a bit early in the season to ask about winter so I do apologize, though being Canadian winter is constantly on my mind. I have a black quilted vest coming my way soon and it was a gift so I'd like to make use of it but I am struggling to come up with fits for it. I don't have a lot of black in my wardrobe so I'm struggling to come up with fits for it. I'm trying to come up with fits for it but the fact that it's black is what's giving me a hard time. I'd like to make use of it since its a gift, so it saves me having to buy one in a easier colour. I'm thinking trousers, sweaters, boots, etc. But its really colour combinations that are throwing me for a loop, I would appreciate any suggestions.

As a southerner who had the pleasure of living in Southern California (San Diego) for a few years, I had to chuckle, as this is such a Southern California sentence. I can distinctly remember my amusement the first time that I saw that "rain" was the lead story on local news, with recommendations to stay at home if you don't need to be out. Seriously, they warn people to stay at home because of rain. Bless their hearts.

Last time we had some real rain, in 1997-1998, the whole California panicked and scientists called it El Nino.

And its only getting worse. Couple months ago, we had rain in SF Bay Area for about an hour. Highway traffic speed slowed down to less than 35mph and SFO had to route traffic to Sacremento...

Don't worry, we have the same thing here to some extent (although it's more of a traffic speed up on the few days it doesn't rain

What I wore this weekend to the bay...slightly cooler with the anticipated showers..Cotton cardigan, soft wash chinos and shell toe Adidas's for me to set the tone for a much needed comfortable weekend.. Might be too casual for this thread but thought I would try it here first..

Love the outfit, but I'd prefer the sleeves to be a bit more loose. Especially with the body of the cardigan not having such a snug fit, it IMO gives it too much of a 'muscle shirt-esque' look in the arms.

In fairness, I understand that Friday's rainfall in DTLA (0.3") was enough to make this July a record breaker--i.e., no previous recorded month of July had registered so much as 0.25" of rain in total.

It was so nice really… I sat outside under my porch umbrella just reading. Incredible how no one can drive in the rain though.

Seriously guys, you're still talking about a few drops of rain?

Perfect trouser length and nice shoes. But, I think a checked shirt would suit this more.

I agree - nearly any shirt would be better with this fit than the plain yellow - not a mistake I'll make again. Thanks on the compliments, otherwise.

Where'd you get the boots?!

+1 - the boots are definitely cool.
