They date between 1958 and 1968 based on the sock-liner. I would guess early to mid 60's based on the style and advertisements I have seen.
Shows how much I know. Thank you.

I had never heard of U-wings before a few weeks ago. I did a serious double take when I first saw a pair here. Now I’m watching eBay for a pair in my size. ;)

@Jiqea will set you up. Give him your size, and bank account number, or credit card number, and you'll have a pair in no time.

What I said about LWBs may not apply to u-wings. Wow. That’s a case for moving north.

Given that the land border is opening up again, move here before winter sets in.

Gentlemen,

Sincere apologies for the interruption but a quick/rare heads up that I will be listing my pair of Edwin Clapp longwings. They are one of only two pairs that I've seen of this model. I bought them as a 10.5 unknown width but I am reasonably sure that they are a 10.5C. They are just a bit too narrow for me. I have hung onto them for a long time with the hope that maybe some day they would magically fit but I have not worn them even once. I can fit them but they are really not quite right (I am more like a 10D/E). So before listing them on Ebay, I figured I would offer them up to anyone that might be hunting for a rare pair like these. They are not perfect but they are in very good, original shape with really not much apparent use. The hide used for the uppers is amazing. Regrettably letting this pair go and hoping they'll land with another enthusiast. Feel from to PM me if you have interest.

** Edit: Gents, these longwings have been sold **

A nice little pair of 1960's John McHale "Vikings" landed at my door today; size 7.5E. It is getting harder and harder to to find anything quality by John McHale.

Semi-Vintage-Violation: AE Waltons on duty tonight. They don't make this style in this leather anymore. These do have a bit more wear than I was expecting, I'll need to get the heels replaced. My local cobbler will do a neat job for $25. The insole isn't too deeply imprinted and with a thin leather and cork insert it doesn't bother me at all. Very comfortable, the leather is nice all around and the stitching is tight.

Good morning:
I’m quite excited today partly because we’re off to Maui this afternoon but more importantly, I have a package incoming!
I bought a pair of NOS horsehide vintage boots with a BF Goodrich heel and a Bearfoot cork neoprene sole. GYW construction and from what I can gather from the inter webs, made in the 1940’s or 50’s! I’ll post pics when I get them and do a deep moisturizing followed by all the rest of the stuff we do to get them just as we like them.
I have a question though; how do I date them? BF Goodrich quit making shoe products decades ago and I can find almost nothing on “Bearfoot” soles. The brand is “Crane”, of which I can find nothing. This is from the seller though, so who knows, eh?
More good news, the US border is set to open on November 8th so back in business agin.
Wish me luck in Maui and I’ll see you when I get back.
