Without getting into details, part 2 of the story which I'm witnessing from a semi-close seat is the VCs legally going after whichever of the people who did this, look like they have some net worth (why squeeze a stone dry after all). Investors are not totally without rights on 100m+ rounds that go wrong. So just as people about to start their MBA buy luxury items to clear their bank accounts before the Harvard admin takes a look at them to determine their qualification for a scholarship, the game here is to make sure you immediately spend your secondary "earnings".

There’s nothing illegal 99% of the time. Only if you did something wrong during dd but even then very unlikely.

I own that same version; bough it about a year ago and is the first and only DJ I've owned. I bought it because (a) I liked it and (b) I wanted to really understand the DateJust. I'd always thought the DateJust to be "boring." I. Was. Wrong.

I now get it. It's remarkably perfect for what it is (if that makes sense). It could easily be an "only watch" for many watch lovers IMHO.

I think I might have found it.

In my usual fashion, I’ll internally debate it until it’s no longer available.
The way to save $ as a watch enthusiast is to set your heart on something that takes a while to find . . . and then when you find it you internally debate it until someone else buys it.

Or set your heart on something that's so out of reach that you'll never be able to buy it short of winning the lottery.

For anyone considering a custom strap, Terrycrafted is amazing and has ridiculous attention to detail. I checked a few of his straps out in-person at a meetup a few weeks ago and have been going back and forth with him on a custom alligator strap and I had no clue half of the things he has asked about are even considerations.

Here are some pics of the leather and color he sent over.

IMO makes way more sense than something like Camille Fournet.

I like how you mentioned factory alligator leather straps "wear out" on your wrist within 6 months and yet you keep going back to alligator leather straps...
