Does anyone have the inside scoop on what's going down with Omega's plans to update the Speedmaster line? I've heard the FOIS has just been discontinued and that the 1861 moonwatch will be upgraded to the 3861 soon? Thoughts...?

Haha...yeah, it's not like some sort of venerated institutional powerhouse of engineering and technology has ever actually put a varied collection of watches from different brands through a series of intense tests to come up with objective ratings...

My local OB mentioned it indirectly and when I googled for further confirmation I didn't find much, but I did find this (skip to 3:30):

This also seems like AD-supplied info, which is why I'm asking if this has been confirmed anywhere else...

Omega CEO already said a new moon watch is coming out in 2021. The Apollo 11 and now Snoopy 50 are using the 3861 movement. Makes sense to make that the standard movement for the moon watch since Omega wants to make everything METAS certified.

I’m more interested to see if they do anything with the Planet Ocean line (make it a 42mm with 14mm case thickness like the first gen PO) or update the Seamaster Master Coaxial and make that like 2-3mm thinner. Omega’s problem right now is all of their watches wear too thick.

agreed re pervasive thickness.

what say ye about the fois, though? is it just gone, or will it be updated (hesalite with 321?)?

will the new moon watch be sapphire only? new bracelet?

are price hikes going to be subtle, or bonkers?
