Picked this up. 1966 Sub with a gilt dial. Arrives tmr AM. Will pair well with the 60s Speedy :)

This is actually my Dad's birthyear, so might have to give it to him lol.

I wasn't planning on pulling the trigger this soon but fell in love with the splatter patina. It looks even better in videos that Jacek @ Tropical Watch shot over. Serviced in Q4 2022 too!

Dial is original, hands are not, aged by the guy at True Patina.

That’s good stuff there. Well done.

As someone also born in the 1960s, I felt that. 🙁

Any used watch (or car) dealer is going to have to have a certain amount of moral flexibility -- even if it's just around the inevitable information asymmetry -- but Jacek does seem to be one of the more on-the-level.

I took photos of watches at Pitti (when I remembered to ask someone whether they were wearing a watch) last week:

Thought this was the new Patek for a second.

Your dad was born in 1966? Are you 15?

Breguet. Breguet is missing.

Something like this? I agree.

I would say I am missing a 34-36mm pure dress watch. Will probably go vintage. This is ever a contender:

With my career, and what I often wear, a pure dress watch is sensible.

Quite right on the 5970, though the 5270 is in-house (whatever that means…). The 5712/1R is definitely a nice iteration, something I thought about when released, though another gold bracelet. No. Anyway, am waffling.
As with you, generally, the only watches that have caught my attention of recent years are from PP and independents (including FPJ).

Though, was disturbed to see new FPJ pricing. My CO allocation is expected in time for my birthday, though very annoyed to see new pricing - It was 130K AUD when ordered, now 206K AUD… Hmmm.
So had a look at some other prices (represent 12 months as opposed to CO):
QP was the least spectacular increase; 130-141K
CR; 180-240K.
E48; 21.5-29K

Anyway, popping in today to see a few things today.

Yeah, PP and Independents is where I see my future. And with PP, I only see a future if my AD gives me a little more wiggle room. I'm not buying 2-3 watches I do not want, and a ladies PP or two, so that I can get access to the good stuff.

That is crazy, re: FPJ pricing. I officially count myself out of FPJ for now. Don't live close to a boutique, and not sure I want to wait years.

Re: Breguet. I believe it’s the best bang for buck used. Many models feature more hand finishing than watches 3x the price.

I paid nowhere near sticker for any of mine 2nd hand. :)
