I never really thought of having black lapels with the odd waistcoat. Would have looked silly even if it matched the jacket lapels.

Would definitely have waistcoat lapels self-faced.

Grosgrain lapels fine if on matching barathea, etc. But would probably chop things up too much with a contrasting color or pattern.

Yesterday, I let our kids go through my drawers to pass some of this time at home. My daughter came across a set of cufflinks and studs and asked me what they were for. I told her it was for a tuxedo and explained that that was what I might wear for an event when her mommy wore a long, fancy dress. She had me dig up it up from storage and put on the whole rig, except for socks. Hadn't worn it, perhaps since before she was born (and possibly since before this thread was born). Shown with slightly long shelter-in-place hair.

I like the look, only the shirt is not as I would wear it. I would prefer a shirt with invisible buttons. And of course black socks

^Thanks. Yeah, I would never go out like that (tux w/o socks). Imo, shirts w/o studs is a bit too stark/plain. And I've long liked studs like this with mop, surrounded by metal. Kinda seems like floating circles.

Thanks. That's what happens when everything's at least 20 yrs old. The links and studs are the oldest. Bought those in high school, around 1990. I admit that I did have the pants tapered a few years ago for an event that I ended up not attending.
