It's different for sure. I just don't think it works all that well. I don't think the satin-faced lapels work all that well. Still...summer evening in the tropics...maybe a non-traditional colored shirt...who knows? But I'd certainly do that cuff button up.

I kinda like the 90s vibe of it though I would not necessarily get one made like that I have no qualms wearing it if it were passed on to me

What are peoples thoughts on 70/30 barathea wool-mohair blend vs. pure wool barathea? The mohair blend makes the tux a little lustrous, right? Does it have any other properties with regard to drape, wrinkles, breath-ability, etc?

I'm not sure if it comes into play, but I'm thinking about these options in regards to a midnight blue shawl dinner suit...

For me it depends on what you want to use it for... I run hot in pure wool for most events and the mohair is more versatile...

Looks wise the classic obviously is pure wool but I find them less useful for me in the Aussie climate and I prefer mohair...it feels contemporary and classic at the same time. IMO if you're going for a single breasted shawl...go mohair, you'll get more use out of it than pure wool

yes, it would be a SB shawl midnight tux. shooting for something that could work in all seasons, probably 310g range. I'm in the northeast US, so we have all 4 seasons with it getting relatively humid in the summers

I'm biased towards mohair...and looking at your requirements I would suggest going mohair too...very useful for humid climates and you can always chuck on an overcoat during winter...I'm getting a sb dark navy mohair fresco sb shawl myself
