Yeah, you know you may just be right. I must admit to very little knowledge of continental European shoes other than internet searches. I'll happily take it on the chin for a faulty opinion and those Carminas do look pretty good!

Can anyone tell me if this belt is shell? It's from Saks. Here is the listing:

In the title it says cordovan but in the details it just says Italian leather. It was offered in brown, green, navy, gray, and tobacco. I received it today and it's hard for me to tell what kind of leather it is. It doesn't say anything on the lining other than the brand and made in Italy. Here are some pics:

Hard to say since it seems to have such a heavy finish on it. From the pics, it looks nice, but I can’t distinguish.

Looks like it could be. I’m looking at the rolls and a few bumps/scales where it could be a little dry. Is it stiff? My shell belts are stiffer than my calf belts.

Its not too stiff but it is heavier than my calf belts.

Certainly looks like shell, but I’ve never seen a cordovan belt in a size that big (no shade, I wear the same size) that wasn’t made with tabs sewn together.

I forgot about that detail. Horween sells shell belts of only one piece but they’re twice as expensive as any other Horween-sourced shell belt.

No, but for shell it means multiple pieces unless you want to pay big for it since they have to cut up both sides of the shell. I don't think any adult sizes would be able to be cut on one side either way...

It might be European tannery or Japanese tannery Cordovan and not Horween.
