Thanks for your input. Out of curiosity how could you tell? and while I realize that pricing doesn’t always make sense, I would be surprised that they would price a “heavily corrected calfskin leather” belt at 199.
Did you see the belts that they had at $500+?

The striations, gloss, and break all of your belt look characteristic of cg leather. Take the belt and bend it in an attempt to crease it. I bet that you will see microcreasing exhibited by cg leathers where the leather folds against itself. The surface of the leather looks nothing like shell nor does the edge finishing look like shell either.

Other posts are commented on the construction and pricing. When have you seen one piece cordovan belts for such a price at such a quantity of sizes? One piece shell belts from horses are not entirely shell and shells suitable for one piece belts made from other equine species are pretty rare.

Visited Grafford today, the Stockholm C&J main store.

Stupid me did not take any pictures, but on the cordovan shelf they had Malvern in burgundy and Cardiff both burgundy and dark brown.

I have never seen any of these in shell before, and especially the Malvern was crazy god looking. And I’m not even a monk guy.
