Are people picking up much in the UK? I've looked around some charity shops and found nothing even close to this quality. I live in a small middle class town so you think it would be a decent a spot. I know the US has a lot more second hand stores so maybe I'm just missing out.

I'm in the UK and haven't seen anything really top quality worth buying. I've picked up a few decent bits here and there in charity shops, but nothing really brag-worthy. I actually went to a more 'upmarket' area yesterday for a look at the shops there, and while they actually had some good stuff, the prices were crazy, so I didn't get anything other than a few books for myself. Most of the things I've bought have been from TK Maxx - a couple of pairs of LVCs, and some other selvedge denim, all for myself. Today I actually found another of the Filson Forestry Cloth Cruisers I posted before:

very pleased that this one was not only my size, but on the 'Clearance' rack with an extra 30% off.

Beautiful jeans, shame that were washed in a machine though.

?????????????????????????????????? - clean people wash their clothes.

@Musicled Don't stress, people will slam anything that they could find.- stuff they can't find is what impresses. And i'm sure there will be something for you.
it just maybe the ugliest sweater you've ever seen though. So relax, keep thrifting what looks and feels like quality, and learn to feel WHAT IS quality.

You will get trolled whatever happens, this is the interwebs, I get trolled constantly by plebs. But i can laugh as i know, they simply don't know.

Good luck, may the thrift be with you.

I think the argument was in favor of soaking or handwashing instead of machine washing. Not in favor of not washing at all, though I guess some denim heads do that as well.

Dude, it was an inside joke on Denims, the noobs never wash their jeans as they are scared of losing color.

Agreed! I'd love a forestry cloth cruiser or something similar.

Also @Fueco , so these are possibly a safer bet than the PRL aloha I posted before? (As far as I'm concerned, you're the thread's aloha shirt brain trust. Hopefully that's ok)

They were so hideous I had to leave them… Well that and this shop didn't do returns. I did grab this one though...

Looks like someone forgot it at the dry cleaners… Minty.

Thanks for the info.

What selvedge denim have you found at TK Maxx?

Euro-thrift-trip?

Hah! I already did a Euro road trip last summer... I'll be doing an epic cross country thrift trip come June, which will have to suffice. My comment was more aimed at the fact that I keep finding women's Filson stuff at Marshall's and TJMaxx...
