Oh, thanks for the tip! I must be very tired, as I totally missed the web site bit.

Had my best haul of vintage American shoes today ever. Some serious shoe horse must have kicked off to the great shoe stable in the sky, because these shoes are all OLD and there were a ton of them. I got a cartful today and I'm going back tomorrow for more once the rest go out. Here are a few quick pics of some I snapped. The majority were French Shriner Custom Grade (WTF, didn't even know they had a custom grade), and old Johnston and Murphy - and by old I mean, the sizing on the inside of the shoe is written in pen. Needless to say, the quality of these shoes smashes anything coming out of American shoe factories today (sorry Alden). Speaking of Alden, also picked up a pair of unrelated black captoes today, not pictured.

most PO's have the free ones there, too -- if not out in the open, clerks will fork them over on request.

Huh. I was under the assumption that was CapnWes and his sister on that bitchen camaro.

Hey come on, thats my second cousin...lol. Actually it's my wife...and it's her '68 too. Her mom bought it second hand in '69 and it was their everyday driver when my wife was a kid. I like to think it was her wedding gift to me, at least half of it anyway....the driver's side. She doesn't like to drive it anyway. Oh well, more for me!

There's no such thing as a free lunch. I guarantee you if no one ever "layered" the PM envelopes that the shipping cost of Priority Mail would be lower.

I guess my point is that USPS definitely does not condone using the free PM materials for waterproof lining or other things like that. If I were running USPS, I probably would stop offering the materials for free because so many people are doing that. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they actually did get rid of the free boxes eventually, and then we are all losers.

I think I actually read on one of the PM boxes something about it being strictly prohibited to use the free materials for reasons other than their intended use, and that there actually could be legal implications (might be making that part up, can't remember).

EDIT: Just trying to defend my view. I don't want to make enemies with the forum expert.[IMG]

Lol, no need to answer my PM then, I suppose. [IMG]

Also, WTF...4 messages in 30 seconds in response to the size. Mainy man, if it wasn't already clear: you've made it. You basically have a permanent clientele in the form of this thread. 'grats homie.

You're in my backyard! I was at that GW yesterday and I saw those shirts and left them because of the monograms. If you're in town for longer, PM me and I can direct you towards a couple of other places in the Cambridge / Somerville area. Good luck! -M-
