Wine country vacation concludes today. On the road tomorrow!

Some neat finds (saw my first C&J in the wild!) but only taking home:

Do not clean the tubes... Well, maybe carefully with a dry cloth. The lettering will come off otherwise. Yup, those are, all the original tubes! The mullards are quite valuable by themselves.

You'll need a mutual conductance tube tester to see how much life is left on them... unfortunately it looks like the 5AR4 rectifier "gassed out" (cracked and no more vacuum). See how the getter area at the top is totally white? Do not plug this thing in with that tube in place!

Nice score though!

Thanks for the tip. I'll pull that tube before trying to test it. Yes, going back tomorrow. Getting a free tube tester, as well as a bunch more "boat anchors" (old tube HAM radio gear).

Oh yeah, check the tubes on the Scott tuner. Probably mullard or Telefunken 12ax7, 12au7, etc. If Telefunken, research "Telefunken smooth plate 12ax7". They go for a pretty penny! But mullard and amperex go for good money too!

If you are planning on Flipping the tuner, you'd probably want to harvest the tubes and list them on ebay separately. Again, you need to get ahold of a good Hickok or similar mutual conductance tube tester. You get much more money if they are tested!

Search sold listings for the tuner without tubes. You can always buy used Russian tubes as "socket stuffers". They work perfectly fine.

Lastly, so you have the turntable, amp and tuner... No preamplifier or speakers?

Cool, I'll check those out.

I did get speakers too. The thing is, all this stuff was his "old" gear stored in a back basement storage room. I found owners manuals for Ohm speakers, Audio Research gear, Marantz amps and pre amps, Heathkit, etc. No idea where that stuff went....

If any of my American friends want a proxy on this 1999 Starter tee in Large I would be happy to oblige. Unusual find in UK thrifts.

True, I haven't seen anyone in England post vintage tees, wonder why?
Not that I’m a frequent poster but I’ve only recently started looking, having seen here the prices OG band tees go for. For UK thrifters, I’m really keen to get the official Glasto tees for the years I went as a young un (95, 97 & 98) on the off chance you ever see such a thing.

Very amused to see a t-shirt for a minor-league ice hockey franchise from my hometown make it all the way to a UK charity shop.

You'd be surprised what we find, I found condensed milk the other day for 50p.

Estate sale talk:

The guy running my estate sale just got back from Burning Man and he looked like he spent 15 days in the desert! I was a little concerned because we have so much stuff I was worried he wasn't going to get through it all! We had to finish a few things yesterday and he was a pricing machine! There is a lot left to do, but I am very excited to be getting all this stuff done and gone!

I have to be in town tomorrow when the sale is going on so I am going to stop by and see how it is going. He probably won't want me hanging around, but who cares he is getting paid to do it. I have never been on this side of the sale. If an ebay seller comes to my house, they are going to hit the mother load!

In addition to lots of ebay Fodder like suits, shoes, collectibles, etc., My wife has a HUGE collection of handmade Belly Dance costumes and we have a whole room set up for all of it.
