Pig bristles are good for broguing, so if your shell has broguing, it might help. Otherwise, I can't imagine it would scratch shell, as shell is more or less indestructible absent like, deep gouges with metal.
I was thinking the stiffer brush would make quicker work for a shine and removal of bloom.

I've never tried, but it seems like it might work. I think the main issue with bloom is just getting the fats off the surface and the shine comes from introducing heat from the friction of the horse hair on the surface.

Okay, so the heel block of my Cheaney Ribble boots just fell off yesterday when walking in the snow. How the hell did that happen? I thought these were supposed to be nailed down?

Did you got any solution from Cheaney to your faulty Ribble´s heel block ? I was interested in this model but after seeing your problem, I have doubts about it.

Had them reattached the proper way by my cobbler (nailed and glued). Haven't bothered to contact Cheaney.

Any recommendations on how to clean this up?

Tried damp rag, brushing as well as renomat. Made no real difference on either of the above spots. Wondering if it's worth trying saddle soap. Usually, brushing does the trick for me.

Do you have any idea what the stain is?

If they don’t come out with renomat and elbow grease try a mix of white vinegar and distilled water. Condition afterwards.

I have read online that Kiwi polish is bad as it has silicone inside which suffocates the leather. SCJ customer service was able to point me to the what’s inside SCJ site, I can’t see silicone inside the ingredients, unless I am missing something?

Kiwi Black Parade Gloss contains Dimethicone (silicone) - it's made for skin and leather and I don't think it suffocates anything.

My understanding is the polish is harmful because of the benzene/naptha. Silicone is found in waterproofing sprays and instant polish.

There’s nothing wrong with silicone if it is in there, I agree the solvent is more of the issue. Silicone is completely inert. If you’re concerned keep hard wax off of sections of the shoe that bend and use a water based product there (lexol, bick 4, rénovateur etc).

Few doubts:

1. How’s boot black?
2. What’s bb’s shine water?
3. How to I remove the remove the existing wax and cream on my shoes? (Not harsh as renomat)

Thanks
