I've been having trouble finding a reasonably priced but high quality show shine box after looking at stores and the web for a while. So this morning I sat down with my friend Brandon Rudin and we figured out a two-drawer design for a shoe shine kit centered around my collection of Saphir products and brushes.

We are going to use a medium brown curly maple wood with a polyurethane finish for easy care if polish/cream gets on it and four arched legs to lift the box off the ground and make for easy carrying. We decided against a handle. One drawer will be deep and tall enough to host six glass Saphir cream bottles and six tins of wax/Mirror Gloss. One drawer will have room for six medium to large brushes plus be tall enough to stack flannel and fine shirting polishing cloths.

I will post photos in a few weeks when it is done. Price is around $400. Cabinet construction will be all joinery. Brandon is a brilliant craftsman who has made fine audio racks and chairs for friends of mine so I know his work well. At some point I will buy one of those equipment racks as well.

Brandon's website is: http://www.bsrwoodworks.com
