is Alden size runs bigger? should I take half size down? because I bought one online already and feels big.
The first thing we all learn here Randy is that we don't know anything about buying "real" shoes. Take your time and recognize that buying a pair of Aldens is initially more complicated than you can ever imagine :) Post a link of the exact shoe you bought and you will be impressed by how helpful the folks on this thread will be.

Thank you! it's my first Alden and I bought a pair of
Cordovan Chukka Boot,
Double Leather Sole,
Barrie Last. Most my shoes are size 10.5D US but feel this pair I bought is too big and I compared sole to my other shoes, Alden is bigger. I am looking to confirm if Alden shoes runs big.

If you purchased a 10.5D in the Barrie last, then yes, they would be large. You are most likely a 10D in the Barrie. Can you return them?

It isn't that Alden in general runs large. Just that last, specifically.

Thanks, that's what I thought too. I can return but feels like it's not sellers fault, I probably going to sell it.

One more question about chukka sizing. I have two pairs of Aldens on the Barrie last in 11D, and both slip a little in the heel. I have a low volume foot and a narrow heel. The DC store has a Ravello chukka in both 11D and 10.5D, and since they don't have many laces, I'm considering ordering them in 10.5D. Can anyone comment on whether that size in the chukka might work for a low-volume foot with a narrow heel? I have some room in the toe of my 11D Barrie last shoes.

bakes is probably right. although i'm in the same boat with low volume/narrow heel and never could get the barrie chukka to work for me in a variety of sizes.

anyone see alden madison post on IG of the green suede boot? is that an entirely new model? i don't recall a boot on the van last...

Sorry for throwing this one out here again, know it's not a sales thread. Just figured I might have a larger chance of hitting something here that what I have done for the last past months in the sales thread.

Just been looking for a pair of cordovan color 8 boots size 8 (barrie last, a TTS US8.5. But open to any lasts!). Alden. Please let me know if some of you are looking to sell or know someone who does! Thanks

The Barrie last fits about a half size large for most people. Some here also find that the Barrie chukka fits even larger than shoes or high boots on the Barrie.

So I've picked up 3 pairs of Aldens over the last couple of weeks & am looking to add another couple of pairs or so as well as a pair of winter dress boots. So far I've bought blacks shell LWBs, brown CXL PTBs, & a pair of navy CXL LWBs. I'd like to add another pair of shell & a pair in calf.

1) 1st question, I've found LWBs offered in a 'mix' of grain & smooth leather. Does this particular combination have a particular designation? (To make it easier to search for?) I'd love to pick up a pair with a Dainite sole (I'm also considering a brown calf LWB with a commando sole as an alternative).

Something like this minus the kilt!

2) I've heard varying opinions about the wearability of shell in rain (with most saying they avoid it), any rule of thumb re the topic?
