A few years ago, uncle Mac posted pictures of himself wearing one saddle NST and one regular NST.
I looked down at my feet on the subway today to notice I had the 9016 (black punch captoe bal) on my left foot and the 9070 (color 8 straight tip captoe bal) on my right foot
Anyone else do this before?

I didn't see that on his site, but did notice that he offered JR soles. An mdubs recommendation goes a long way with me...
(sorry for bringing the post back from a few days ago - happened to be searching this thread to make sure I was looking at the right Aram and didn't see a reply to this one. I'll ask about the Alden soles if I call him, but for some reason I'd be surprised if he can do their branded oiled-leather sole)
[edit - I take it back. He does show something on his site that looks like the Alden oiled leather sole but it appears to be unbranded and he calls it "Alden Flex Welt" - my guess is it is the same supplier Alden uses, but of course could be "real"]

I can confirm that he does offer Alden flex welt. I recently had a pair of Aldens re-soled by Aram and opted for the flex welt. He told me he orders them directly from Alden (in addition to the heels). They appear to be the same as another pair I have that came stock with the flex welt sole, except the re-sole pair does not have the Alden logo embossed on the bottom.

It will "unstuffy" it a bit, which is probably good unless it's a funeral. Do it.

I wouldn't. A black suit needs black shoes. It depends on the context, though. A black suit would normally be for a somber or formal occasion.
Hopefully they at least have the black welt and edges and not antique.
