Lel is a great example of "affordable swag"

(i still think jeans are a tad tight if you want to nitpick)

They're still stretching but yeah I'm pretty sure what I spend in a year on clothes is less than what most SF members spend a month.

I'm at the point where I'm satisfied and really at best I might splurge and fill out basics with Uniqlo and then just save up for a once a year grail purchase (Schneider knit, anything ToJ, decent pair of boots, that kind of stuff).

Went to the mall, wasn't expecting to find anything... walked into Zara and decided to try on one 'tailored fit' shirt that just happened to be in my size... fit was amazing for OTR, but it's Made in China...

I liked the Club Monaco stuff but wish the sleeves on their Medium shirts were 2 inches longer...

kopped:p

I propose a ban of the word 'Uniqlo' henceforth in this thread.

why? uniqlo makes decent looking and decent quality stuff at a great price. toasty's latest fit was pretty much all uniqlo (I think) and looked great. granted this thread should be about more than just 'qlo, but it's still an awesome way to look good on a budget.

It's not that uniqlo isn't suited for this thread, it's just the immediately obvious answer. I think people are trying to find more creative ways to dress well on the cheap or find great deals on nice pieces. Not to mention most people (including myself) do not have access to uniqlo.

yeah I agree with that. although standout pieces from uniqlo (things that are an especially good deal) still deserve to be discussed.

Because they don't do mail order and unless you're in NYC, you're kinda SOL if you're stateside? It's kinda like going back to TN and talking about all the awesome weed we get here in Cali. No one wants to hear about our fabulous stuff, so could we just STFU about it? :p

if the 511 fit works for you, the fabric on the levis 511 trousers (I have the british khaki or whatever, not sure if all colors are the same fabric) is freaking awesome. super thick fabric. the fit doesn't work for me as well as I'd like, but for a skinnier person they're a good option.

another option - women's no show/loafer socks from amazon or whatever. forgot what brand I bought but they were real cheap. impoly_one turned me onto this I believe.

I have no experience with it, but suddenlee seems to offer a pretty awesome proxy service, and you can usually find qlo stuff on b&s for dirt cheap. I own like 4 or 5 things from uniqlo and I didn't buy any of them personally from nyc.
