1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I don't think they have cleaned a single thing in this city since that show was filmed.

That's atmosphere. Sadly, I hear that Cable Car is moving, over to Sutter right down the block from the Hound. I fear it will lose something in the translation.

I had a steak at John's Grill on the way home this evening. There was a table full of conventioneers being hosted by a Asian gentleman who had to be in his late 60's, at least. He was wearing a perfect Navy with pink pindot bow tie. Made my day.

Wow, people still eat at John's Grill? I had a terrible meal there 20 years ago and haven't been back since.

The Daily Grill is the best eatery around Union Square, IMO.

If I want something hearty, and I'm right there, I'll get fish and chips from Foley's. It's a complete tourist trap, and every time there is a conference in town, the place is full of douchebags in suits or nerds in khakis, depending on the conference, but the fish and chips are decent and reasonably inexpensive.

Which StyFo Affiliate has been picked to do the branded prophylactics at this event, as required by 'Frisco city ordinances?

Someone earlier in this thread said it was down to Saddleback Leather and The Hanger Project.

    Some background from Wikipedia:

    San Francisco: Law and Government

Those from outside of San Francisco, such as other Americans, Poles, citizens of Commonwealth nations, and those who Prius-in from Cayuga Terrace and Portola, who are accustomed to forms of government described in classic literature and practiced worldwide are often confused by the city.

Rather than a democratically elected government with a civil service, or even an authoritarian regime, the city of San Francisco is directly governed by a series of festive and colorful parades.

Some are recurring, others ad hoc.

An example of this is the city ordinance requiring the distribution of branded prophylactics at all meetings or gatherings within the city of one or more people (males.)

This ordinance, adopted sequentially in the Festive and Colorful Parade of November 1997, the Festive and Colorful Parade of 1999, then defeated in the Festive and Colorful Parade of 2006, but then reinstated in the Festive and Colorful Anti-Defeat Pride Parade of 2009, often confuses outsiders. City citizens often will remind outsiders that the requirement to use prophylactics applies only to autoerotic activities (called "self expression" by native San Franciscans.)

The use of prophylactics for activities involving two to several dozen people is undefined in the city's ordinance books, reflecting Festive and Colorful Parade of October 2004 (a.k.a., the Cocktober Parade.)

Just dropping by to see how everything's going, and I came across this thread. I don't come around too often anymore, and I don't recognize as many names as I used to (new people? senility?), but it's good to see the place is still going strong.

I won't be able to make the party (wrong side of the country), but I wish everyone the best. Sounds like a great time.

P.S. Still shopping at Brooks Brothers and wearing Alden - finally managed to swing myself a Rolex Sub, too, for anyone who cares/remembers.

Theoretically, this should be a street style photographer's wet dream.

And I wish I lived in the States, sometimes.
