I have tried on everything at Suitsupply and finally settled on their Hartford suit. It was ordered in and as I was trying on the pants the salesperson tells me that there will be too much tailoring and that the pants won't look right once they have been taken that far in. The suit is a 40 and the pants are 34. I typically wear a 32 trouser. I already own a Napoli from Suitsupply and they managed to take those pants in. I have now been told that I can only purchase from their "Design your own" or have something MTM. Is it really impossible to tailor suit pants down two sizes? Does this mean that I always have to buy MTM suits to look properly dressed?

In my experience, taking in the waist that much will alter the balance of the garment. with OTR clothing, a certain size comes with a waist, u measurement, buttocks and etc. Try their MTM, although i don't know the price difference.

In fairness - most fellas would need to go for MTM suits. Few fits the standard measurements of a jacket, let alone jacket and pants..

Last suitsupply suit I got (the napoli) the jacket was a 42 & pants 34. It seems weird they wouldn't sell you a 40 jacket with 32 pants.

Yes, i guess they are just trying to manage their stock. How much do they charge for MTM?
