Hey all, need your advice again on suit critique. So I ended up ordering a 38R Napoli navy from SuitSupply. Came in today (1 business day shipping, really happy tbh) but unfortunately the suit is not a great fit off the rack. So I again need your critique!

Here's what I can tell

  • Sleeves need to be shortened (the shirt im wearing also needs to be shortened, was gonna take it to a tailor w the suit)
  • Length needs to be shortened significantly. Kind of afraid this will mess up the proportions of the jacket?
  • Jacket needs to be taken in perhaps? A lot of extra space around the chest to point where if I stand still with my arms down, the jacket still juts out a bit by the lapels
  • Pants need to be hemmed ofc
  • Pants are wide and not form flattering, need to be taken in quite a bit. Not sure if it's just me but feels like a lot of extra fabric everywhere.
The positives as far as I can tell is that the jacket in a 38R seems to generally fit and there's no extra space at the neck. Furthermore, the pants fit snuggly around the waist which is nice.

Please offer me your critiques and advice. Would it be too expensive/too much work to get this jacket and pant fitting properly by a tailor? Should I try the Lazio (slim fit) 38R instead? I'm only 5'9" but have relatively wide shoulders for my height, so it's tough to find a good mix of slim/form fitting and not too tight around the upper chest and shoulders - for all clothes unfortunately, not just suits.

Thanks in advance!

DO NOT shorten the length of the jacket or you will end up like @Rufian. Can't comment on taking in the jacket. Hem the pants before making the decision of tapering. Suit trousers are not suppose to be form flattering/fitting.

Op is too small to wear a napoli which I think is their classic style

He needs Lazio or Washington

Yeah, you guys were right. I decided to make the hike out to a store (3hrs back and forth :inlove:) but an associate ended up helping me and a 38R lazio seemed to be a good fit. I'll post some fit pics tonight or tomorrow but overall it seems good.

The lazio fit is way better on you. Length of the jacket is good. It could be shorter if it was a sport coat. Is it black ? I wouldn't buy black but navy or charcoal.

Cheers! Nah, it's navy, but I suppose it's a darker shade of navy. It's this model I believe.
