Suggestions for very dark sunglasses

My eyes are very sensitive to sunlight and about three years ago I developed a chronic eye problem. Without going into detail, when my eye problem flares up sunlight causes me extreme pain to the point of being unable to drive or even go outside. Over the years I've owned Oakley, Armani, Ray Ban, Maui Jim, Persol, and who knows how many other brands of all prices. By far, the best ones, in terms of eye comfort, were a pair I got off Amazon for less than $15. They are approved for welding and are the only sunglasses I've ever worn in which my eyes feel completely relaxed when wearing them. Needless to say, in terms of style, they leave much to be desired (as do all welding glasses).

Any suggestions where I can get more stylish sunglasses that are just as dark?

Shouldn't this be something you see your doctor about first of all? This sounds like it's primarily a medical rather than a style issue. You can get prescription lenses cut to just about any frame these days...

Since my vision is perfect, prescription lenses are not necessary. His advice was simply to find the darkest I could could. Due to he direction our conversation took after that, I didn't persist on prescription sunglasses.

I would be cautious about wearing glasses as dark as welding glasses if you are driving. What you gain in comfort you might lose in safety due to reduced visual acuity. I think there is a limit beyond which over the counter sunglasses are not allowed to go, usually expressed in terms of a percentage. You may be able to get custom made darker glass but I'm not sure it's advisable to wear these if you are driving.

Mountaineering sunglasses can get pretty dark. Not super stylish, but more so than welding glasses.

Look for mountaineering sunglasses with "category 4" lenses, which are very dark and designed for glacier travel.
