Thanks, yeah I do agree that SC is a step up for ZB in terms of finishing. But I also kind of like ZB's style, quite wild I feel, the kind of stuff I am looking for for non-dress boots.

I believe the price difference, justified or not, comes down to the finishing between the two. I think I would be willing to sacrifice finishing on boots and maybe some loafers for the savings.

On say Oxfords and some derbies, I am very willing (although I'd happily take a discount if offered one) to pay for the higher finishing cost that StCs charges.

Incoming! Three week turnaround in modifying my last and making the shoes. Couldn’t be happier with the final product.

I received my second trial shoe today. Fit is better but still not perfect. Here are some pictures. Now I am waiting for a reply.

The gaping on the side of the ankles gets worse when I step and put weight through my heel.

As you said, it does look much improved. Besides the gaping, it appears you still have a fair amount of material across the vamp ?.

Saying that, I would venture to guess with this fitting they should be able to produce an improved finished product.

Yeah, The vamp is just tight enough at the laces, but I would definitely have it reduced there some more. It is better then it was though. I just need to figure out what is going on around the ankle. If that is fixed then we are good to go.

I am glad they opted to make me another trial shoe, because if this was the fit of my final pair then I would not be content at all.

Considering how it was versus how it is, I absolutely agree about being apprehensive that they could produce a solid end product.

From this fitting, I believe they should be able to rectify the fit. With the pictures and email, you should be good to go.

Did you inquire about that Havana brown color? Or did you opt for an alternative?

I have not talked to them about options for the final shoes yet. We have just been focusing on the fit so far.

I am sure we will figure out the fit issues. I just wonder what causes that amount of gaping, and I hope the fit is finalized on the final pair. It would suck to drop a grand on a pair of shoes that do not fit right.
