Spier and Mackay Jeans Worth it? Or Junk?

Hello, so I am considering to purchase some quality jeans, a bit a step higher than Levi's and Wranglers. I am not looking for over-the-top jeans that are priced $200 and above, but some affordable ones that have nice cuts and stand the test of time. I know that Spier and Mackay is very popular for their affordable, yet quality garments, but I don't know how well made is their denim and how it typically fits. Did anyone have experience with Spier and Mackay?

If you head to the Classic Menswear side of the forum, there is a pretty active thread devoted to S&M, who is also an affiliate. You will likely find some answers there.
No experience with their denim... sorry.

I have 1 pair - 32 slim. Quality is good. A bit stiff. They'll be durable doing any type of work in them, and look good doing so. Hard to explain, but they are comfortable to wear, but side pockets basically disappear when I sit down, becoming too tight. I find myself always taking out my phone/wallet. 5' 9", currently 155 lbs.

I find the price point reasonable. I have Frame and COH that are notably more comfortable and just as flattering, but also way more money, and I don't do anything where there is a concern of damage - strictly casual wear.

Would I make them my "go to" - no. Would I have a pair or two in the rotation - yes.
