So, in reality, what outfit did you wear most often this summer?

+1 And like you i wore those exact same boots loads and still am, wore them only yesterday at kids football game. Agree with you in as much as they really are just like wearing a pair of brogues.

Yea, more than anything, it's the rubber lug soles making them "summer casual"
Clip-clopping around in leather soles in the summer just doesn't fit.
Especially, in casual settings like BBQs and garden parties.

And you're a low IQ OCD **** who uses the same jokes for 2 years.
Way to derail a thread that had some potential.
Get some new material, you ugly short little troll.

Thin skin, have we? Easy, bud. I actually like you. I had an avatar of you for some time and think you contribute more to this forum than you take credit for.

To answer your question, Peal PTB suede boots and blue OCBD.

Outside of work:

Shirts: A long sleeve button down madras plaid from Polo circa 1985, white background purple green and yellow trad plaid - rescued from the back of my second closet after decades of being ignored and so thin it's like air, cotton polos from H&M, and a few semi chunky cotton sweaters from Takashymia NYC (may it rest in peace.)

Trou: Garment died canvas chinos from boring old Banana Republic in three shades: Gold, Stone, and Ochre died over the original khaki colored base, or a pair of heavy cotton borrelli kahkis when more being more 'dressy'.

Shoes: my same old Sperry suede penny loafers (now enjoying their 28th year), or either one of two pair of two tone suede two eyelet vibram soled derbies, no socks.

Old man casual steez I guess.

Sperry's in navy with white soles and laces sockless, 80s vintage fred perry tennis shorts with side tabs and my rowing club's polo shirt has been the most popular in this unbearable humidity and heat.

I've worn the same thing accidentally to a few parties with the same people and asked whether i'd changed since the last one. :embar:

^ TB you got some guns there, son. This explains a lot about most of your SC's in your fit pics, which perhaps we will get into later.

Spoo, those are some pretty big lapels. What year is the jacket.

That jacket is about 2 years old. Rubinacci.

Edit: forget it. I'm not getting into a pissing match with Reevolving. I wouldn't want to end up in a dreaded fit battle with him.

Whassat?

ThreadB, thanks for the pics.

Don't take this the wrong way, but do you think that shorts/polo outfit is too plain?
(Plain for someone who frequents a fashion forum, anyway)
Then again, the fit looks spot on, and perhaps that is all the edge one needs in summer.
That is also the shorts length people suggested in my "shorts length" thread earlier this summer. (above the knees)

SF posters may note that there is little color on that ensemble, for example.
For me, part of the summer challenge, if you will, is how to maintain an "edge" that is easy to maintain with conservative business dress all Fall/Winter/Spring.

J.Crew khaki shorts, ss RL shirt, and Alden boat shoes all summer long, even as I type this.

Linen shirts and lpants and several pair of deck shoes. A brutal extended heatwave screwed most of the summer for enjoying more diversity.

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my first MTM sport coat which I hope will address issues caused by my unusual physique. It should be here in another week or two. Fingers crossed!

I agree that I'm doing very little with patterns in my summer outfits. Part of the reason is that I'm over 50, so I feel funny peacocking. Instead, I've come to favor bold color blocks with lots of contrast. I also lean toward classic colors like navy, white, stone, and khaki, leaving the magentas and the canary yellows to younger men.

Keep in mind, too, that as a teacher I'm not dressing for work during the summer. Here's something I wore one of the few times I've been properly dressed since June...

For the record, the shirt has a blue check pattern but it's too faint to see in the pic.

Jeans? Socks? Good god, that looks hot for summer wear.
